Arahataen Shizuoka Deep-Steamed Green Tea
🍃 Real Shizuoka leaf, deep-steamed for a smooth cup — no bitterness, no shortcuts 🇯🇵✨
A fuller, smoother cup — brewed the way Shizuoka has been doing it for generations.
If you've bought "Japanese green tea" before and it tasted thin, grassy, or bitter enough to need sugar — that's usually not a Japan problem, it's a sourcing problem. This one comes sealed straight from Arahataen in Shizuoka, the prefecture that grows more tea than anywhere else in the country, imported without passing through a third-party repacker.
What "deep-steamed" actually means
Most sencha is lightly steamed for about 30 seconds. Fukamushi (deep-steamed) tea like this one is steamed for closer to 60–90 seconds, which breaks the leaf down further. The result: a cloudier, deeper green liquor, a rounder taste, and noticeably less of the bitterness that puts people off green tea in the first place.
100 individually sealed bags — one box lasts a while
Packed in Japan — same packaging sold in Japanese stores
How to brew it
1. Water just off the boil, around 80°C
2. Steep 60–90 seconds — no longer
3. Take the bag out before it sits
