If you've ever used a Japanese lotion and thought "wait, this isn't like anything I've tried before" — this is probably the one you were thinking of. The Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Lotion from HadaLabo doesn't do anything dramatic on the surface. It goes on clear, sinks in fast, and your skin just feels... full. Plump. Like it drank water properly for once.
The formula uses five types of hyaluronic acid stacked at different molecular sizes — some work at the surface to lock moisture in, others go deeper to hold hydration where your skin actually needs it. The result is that soft, bouncy feel that Japanese skincare is known for, without any heaviness or sticky residue.
It works best applied right after cleansing while skin is still slightly damp. Pour a 500 yen coin-sized amount into your palm, pat it gently across face and neck — don't rub. You can layer it twice if your skin is on the drier side, which many people do in Bangladesh's air-conditioned indoor environments.
This is the regular (non-premium) version — slightly lighter texture, works well for combination and normal skin. If you run oilier or need something a bit more intense in winter, check out the Gokujyun Premium version which has a richer, more concentrated feel.
Pairs naturally with the HadaLabo Foaming Cleanser as a two-step hydration routine — cleanse, then layer this right after. For your full Japanese skincare routine, browse the rest of our Skin Care collection.
