Oigawa Chaen "Tea Factory Staff" Green Tea
π The tea the tea workers themselves drink daily π¨πΎπ―π΅
Not made for photos. Made for the people who grow it.
The name translates roughly to "the tea factory's staff tea" β because that's exactly what it is. Oigawa Chaen makes this deep-steamed sencha from Makinohara, Shizuoka's tea-growing heartland, for the workers in their own factory to drink every day. It's sold to the public exactly as-is: the same batch, not a dressed-up export version.
Why the leaves look uneven β on purpose
This tea is steamed 2β3 times longer than regular sencha (about 60β120 seconds instead of 30). That breaks the leaf into smaller, uneven pieces β which looks less "premium" but extracts far more easily, giving a fuller, rounder cup with noticeably less bitterness. It's a flavor trade, not a shortcut.
320g loose leaf β real tea ritual, not a bag
Also works well as cold-brew iced tea
How to brew it
1. ~10g leaf per pot (2β3 cups), water around 80Β°C
2. Steep about 40 seconds β leaves are fine, so it extracts fast
3. Pour out every last drop β that's where the flavor concentrates

Good enough for the people who make it.
